Emigrate to Dubai

Summer temperatures in winter, an impressive skyline, luxury hotels, and extensive shopping malls – all of this makes Dubai a dream destination for many people willing to emigrate.

In addition, of course, there is the aspect of tax exemption. In 2019, approximately 1,000 Germans emigrated to the United Arab Emirates. In order for emigration to be successful in the long term, support from competent local partners is essential in addition to good personal preparation for the climate, general conditions, and lifestyle.

Can you simply emigrate to Dubai?

Dubai is a country of immigration – about 90% of the population of Dubai consists of foreigners. Overall, there are good opportunities for many professions and for businesses. Officially, locals are preferred – however, they make up only a small part of the population and receive such high governmental benefits that they do not necessarily have to work much and thus do not represent competition. In most cases, the locals act as so-called “local sponsors”, who indeed hold the majority of the companies, but do not have to participate directly in the profits, but receive a kind of expense allowance.

How much money do you need to emigrate to Dubai?

Seed capital is necessary for visa application and appropriate contacts and permits for company establishment. The opening of bank accounts or similar is quite complex and should be done with the help of a competent local consulting company. Additionally, it is often mandatory to rent an apartment in Dubai for the duration of the formalities, since without a residence usually no company establishments can be carried out and no bank accounts can be opened. In addition, the topics of health insurance and pension insurance should be clarified. There is no social security agreement with Germany. All this requires a seed capital in the five-digit range.

What are women not allowed to do in Dubai?

In Dubai, there are hardly any restrictions for foreigners or expat women in daily life. Women are allowed to drive a car and mobility is not restricted, no foreign woman has to wear a veil either. Dubai, therefore, seems like a western city with great shopping and leisure opportunities. In stores and also at government offices, women are treated friendly, there are even often separate queues for women – the waiting time is then usually shorter than for men.

Nevertheless, there are country-specific rules, which should absolutely be followed. These apply to both men and women. For example, any public expression of affection (kissing, intimate embraces, etc.) is prohibited.
